From Concept to Completion: 73 m³ Stainless Steel Silo for the Brewing Industry

Every project at Letina begins with a specific challenge and ends with a solution built to last. This is the story of a custom-engineered 73 m³ stainless steel silo, designed and manufactured for spent grain storage in an active beer production facility.
Spent grain is one of the largest byproducts of the brewing process. Handling it efficiently requires storage solutions that are not only large in capacity, but also built to meet the hygiene and durability demands of a food-grade environment. The customer needed a silo that could integrate seamlessly into an existing brewery layout — reliable, easy to maintain, and built to perform for years.
The silo was manufactured from high-grade stainless steel, offering the corrosion resistance and cleanability essential in brewing applications. With a diameter of 4 meters and a total height exceeding 14 meters including the stand, the structure required careful planning across both fabrication and logistics.
Precision was a priority at every stage — from the structural calculations and welding to surface finishing and final quality checks before leaving our production facility.
Following the completion of production, the silo was transported and installed on-site. Projects of this scale demand close coordination between manufacturing, logistics, and installation teams, and this one was no exception. The result was a smooth, on-schedule delivery and a successful installation with no disruption to the customer's operations.
This project is a clear example of what Letina does best — combining engineering expertise with industry-specific knowledge to deliver equipment that fits the exact needs of the customer. Whether it's a standard vessel or a large-scale custom build, our commitment to quality and precision remains the same.
