Magaldi Green Energy

Based on fluidized sand bed technology, MGTES (Magaldi Green Thermal Energy Storage) stores thermal energy from renewable sources or directly from the grid when electricity prices are low - and dispatches it when needed.

The integration of MGTES makes it possible to optimize the industrial energy profile by acting on key levers:

• OPEX Protection (Hedging) – Stabilizing energy costs over the medium to long term, protecting against price spikes in fossil fuel markets.

• Energy Arbitrage and Load Shifting – Charging the system during low-price hours, typically when renewable generation is available, and providing continuous 24/7 steam release for industrial processes.

• Process Decarbonization (Power-to-Heat) – Significantly reducing the carbon footprint by replacing fossil fuels with renewable electricity to produce medium- to high-temperature process heat.

• Demand-Side Management – Transforming the industrial site from a passive consumer into an active load manager, optimizing consumption profiles and increasing resilience against grid constraints.

• Grid Services and Grid Stability – Enabling the provision of ancillary services for the stability of the power system, turning the storage asset into a potential source of additional revenue.
