Banedanmark secured 24/7 operation of their nationwide passenger information and announcement systems with Blue Line’s energy-efficient industrial computers built for long-term reliability.
Maintaining customer information system
Banedanmark is responsible for a 3,102 km railway network across Denmark. They needed to ensure reliable passenger communication across their extensive network of tracks – particularly where delays were concerned.
Their information displays and announcement systems required constant operation, as even brief downtimes could lead to passenger confusion and service disruptions.
The implementation demanded industrial computers that could operate continuously while meeting strict environmental and performance requirements. Standard commercial PCs wouldn’t suffice for these mission-critical operations.
Hardware for continuous operation
Blue Line delivered a comprehensive solution consisting of two key components:
Audio Controller Systems for Station Announcements
A specialized audio controller that converts IP network data packets into audio signals for station-wide announcements. The solution underwent rigorous EMC testing to ensure electromagnetic compatibility in the challenging railway environment.
Information Display Management Systems
Custom-designed industrial PCs were implemented to manage the station information displays. These systems were specifically engineered to operate without fans, maintaining silent operation while consuming less than 25W during normal operation.
Through close collaboration with Banedanmark, Blue Line ensured all technical requirements were met, including 24/7 operational capability and a minimum 10-year service life.
“Blue Line helped develop a new version of the audio controller. We needed to ensure all Banedanmark’s requirements were met, particularly the critical 24/7/365 operation. Blue Line’s dedicated service and support department gives us confidence that the solution is right and operating optimally.”
